HouseSavers & DeckMasters
Our story began in 1994, when Steve Hance founded DeckMasters in Marin County. With an understanding of the area's unique architecture, climate, and the challenges of maintaining outdoor spaces, Steve began restoring and preserving decks throughout the community. What started as a small operation grew as homeowners came to appreciate his knowledge, honest work, and dependable service.
As the company expanded, DeckMasters welcomed its first employee: a hardworking 19-year-old named Brandon Slack.
Brandon spent the following years developing his expertise in waterproofing, decking systems, construction, and remodeling. His dedication to doing things right, attention to detail, and genuine care for customers helped him build lasting relationships with homeowners throughout the community. Over time, he became an essential part of the company, carrying forward the values on which DeckMasters was founded.
When Steve retired, Brandon stepped into leadership, continuing that commitment while expanding the company's services. DeckMasters eventually evolved into HouseSavers & DeckMasters, offering a broader range of construction, repair, restoration, and property improvement services for homeowners, HOAs, property managers, and commercial clients.
Today, Brandon remains closely involved in the work and the relationships that have shaped the company. He believes that every customer deserves to be heard, understand their options, and feel confident in the decisions they make about their property. That approach continues to guide the team, with an emphasis on honest recommendations, clear communication, and treating every home as if it were our own.
